CASTING A BRONZE BOWL using lost wax ceramic shell, 4 day course
WHO: Open to anyone over 16 years, no previous foundry experience or art education necessary. See what past participants say about us in TESTIMONIALS in the menu on the left.
WHAT: Come and learn to cast bronze by a making a decorative or functional bronze bowl. It is a simple straightforward technique to make a bowl and have fun making it your own unique design. You can put as much design into it as you feel able to. The Course usually lasts 4 days but the course can be tailored to suit each person's learning target. Each participant has the opportunity to cast their own bowls (upto x2 of them or a total 3.5kg bronze) in bronze to take home, all materials are included in the course fee.
WHEN: Various regular dates ongoing, throughout 2012, Longer courses can be arranged to suit participants. We are flexible. See Course dates page in the menu on the left.
CHARGES: For a 4 full day course it costs a total of £499/person and all course materials are included in the price. This course is fully insured and you are issued with the necessary personal protection equipment - just bring old clothes or overalls, boots/stout shoes. These Bowl casting courses will have a MAXIMUM of x4 PERSONS/course, to enable a methodical learning experience, with much 'hands on' practical involvement in the bronze casting process. We keep the course numbers low to give each participant maximum tutor contact in what is a knowledge intensive process and keeping the learners the main focus of the course.
LOST WAX BRONZE CASTING using ceramic shell, 5 day course
WHO: Open to anyone over 16 years, no previous foundry experience or art education necessary. See what past participants say about us in TESTIMONIALS in the menu on the left.
WHAT: A Ceramic Shell lost wax bronze casting Residential Course, usually lasting x5 days but the course can be tailored to suit each person's learning target. Each participant has the opportunity to cast two or three small pieces of their own work, finely finish in bronze to take home or potentialy exhibit in an art gallery, all materials are included in the course fee.
WHEN: Various regular dates ongoing, throughout 2012, Longer courses & individual tuition can be arranged to suit participants. We are flexible. See Course dates page menu on the left.
CHARGES: For a 5 full day course costs a total £595/person, a maximum of 4 persons/per course and all course materials are included in the price. We will run this course with two students minimum. This course is fully insured and you are issued with the necessary personal protection equipment - just bring old clothes or overalls and toecap boots or stout shoes. The courses will have a MAXIMUM of x4 PERSONS/course, to enable a methodical learning experience, with much 'hands on' practical involvement in the bronze casting process. We keep the course numbers low to give each participant maximum tutor contact in what is a knowledge intensive process and keeping the learners the main focus of the course.

RESIN SCULPTURE & MOULDING COURSE, sculpture moulding process 5 day course
WHO: Open to anyone over 16 years, no previous workshop experience or art education necessary. See what past participants say about us in TESTIMONIALS in the menu on the left.
WHAT: This course is suitable for beginners and the more experienced alike. Mouldmaking allows you to recreate a casting of an existing sculpture often in a more durable material. This course involves making simple and more complicated split moulds using RTV silicon rubber from your own artworks, using paint on and vacuum casting techniques. The resulting moulds can then be used to create waxes for bronze casting, plaster, bronze effect resin or stone polymer casts in multiple copies for edition sculpture. Polyester resin has a strong odour and even though we will use masks the smell when the resin is curing can be strong and may effect some people so please bear this in mind.
WHEN: The 5 day resin mouldmaking course is set to run from Monday - Friday. Times 9:30AM to 4PM approx, with tea breaks and an hour for lunch. Working later if necessary.

These sculpture courses will have a MAXIMUM of x4 PERSONS/course, to enable a methodical learning experience, with much 'hands on' practical involvement in the mould making process.
MODEL A STEEL BIRD SCULPTURE COURSE, 5 day sculpture fabrication course
WHAT: This course is suitable for beginners and the more experienced alike. You will be introduced to a steel fabrication workshop and the associated metal working machinery. On your first day you will have an induction session into the steel workshop then you will design your bird sculpture, even make a small model in card then over the following days make your steel sculpture of a bird or follow one of our bird patterns if you so wish and by Day 5 you should complete your steel bird sculpture for you to take home or have sent on to you.
WHEN: Various regular dates ongoing, throughout 2012, Longer courses can be arranged to suit participants. We are flexible. See Course dates page in the menu on the left. Start the day at 9AM and finish at 4PM, with tea breaks and a lunch hour.
CHARGES: For a 5 full day course it costs a total of £665/person and all course materials are included in the price. This course is fully insured and you are issued with the necessary personal protection equipment - just bring some old clothes or overalls, boots/stout shoes. These sculpture courses will have a MAXIMUM of x4 PERSONS/course, to enable a methodical learning experience, with much 'hands on' practical involvement in the fabrication process.
STEEL SCULPTURE COURSE, fabricated sculpture process 5 day course
WHO: Open to anyone over 16 years, no previous workshop experience or art education necessary. See what past participants say about us in TESTIMONIALS in the menu on the left.
WHAT: This course is suitable for beginners and the more experienced alike. You will be introduced to a steel fabrication workshop and the associated metal working machinery. By the end of the course you should have a basic working knowledge of metal manipulation and basic MIG welding. You will spend the first day as an induction to the workshop and some metalworking methods, then you will design and make a steel sculpture over the following days and by Day 5 you should complete your steel sculpture for you to take home or have sent on to you.

SILICON RUBBER MOULDING COURSE, sculpture moulding 4 day weekend course

WHAT: This course is suitable for beginners and the more experienced alike. Mouldmaking allows you to recreate a casting of an existing sculpture often in a more durable material.
